Monda town is a small village that offers 2 local supermarkets, various bars and restaurants, and plenty of nature to enjoy wonderful hikes and sightseeing tours.
Monda is also the home to Monda Castle, a luxury hotel that you can walk to from the apartment (15 minutes) to enjoy superb dinners, lunch or breakfast and cocktails.
Monda Heights is the perfect location for nature lovers. There are plenty of hiking trails nearby, some that you can access by walking straight from the apartment, others that are just a short drive from the apartment.
The views from the apartment are absolutely breathtaking – you can see the town, the Castle and the nearby mountains in the distance and the skies are so clear you can count all the stars at night!

The apartment comes fully equipped with everything you could possibly need during your stay. The kitchen has all the utensils, pots, pans, cutlery & crockery. The bathroom has toilet paper, body wash & shampoo. The living room has a flat screen smart TV with Chromecast connected so you can enjoy your favourite Netflix shows, or why not go “old school” and use the Blu-ray DVD player and choose from 100’s of DVD’s that we leave out for you.
The apartment comes with free high speed fiberoptic internet so you can stream all your programmes to your hearts desire!
You may not want any technical interference at all during your stay! Switch off from the online world for a while! – for you we have a selection of boardgames and puzzles and there’s a great selection of books you can read.
But most of all…. you should simply sit on the terrace, enjoy the views and do ab-so-lute-ly nothing at all! Just be! You’ll soon feel switched off completely!

Save money on heavy luggage! We will provide you with towels for the bathroom and we will also provide you with beach towels that you can use on the sun loungers or take with you for your beach days.
We also offer optional extras such as hiking sticks, yoga mats and other items you may not wish to bring with you on your trip.
You don’t have to bring any toilet paper or body soap or shampoo. Cleaning products and the basic herbs to cook are also provided, and if there’s anything else you need, why not do an online shop before you get here. That way, all the things you need are at the apartment when you arrive!
Reviews
The apartment is ideal for a maximum of 4 people. The bedroom has a large double bed that can be converted into 2 singles at no extra cost, and in the living room you have a comfy sofa bed that fits 2 people.
The living and dining area are spacious and of course the outside terrace with plunge pool is ideal to relax and sunbathe all day long. You can enjoy the sun on the large terrace all day long as the terrace is south facing and there are sun loungers as well as hammocks to relax in.

Perfect Couples Holiday
If your looking at the pictures, yes the Apartment does really look that good.
Inside was even more spacious than we imagined. The view from the terrace and bedroom window was stunning and the surrounding area was beautifully peaceful, whilst also being close to local towns and other useful amenities. The pool was an additional treat and the whole stay was such good value for money.
Perfect for couples. would highly recommend and would definitely stay again!
Welcoming and Beautiful
Scarlett and Lee made us feel super welcome and could’ve not imagined how beautiful the place is. The photos are amazing but in real life it’s even better.
Scarlett helped us with everything we needed and gave us great tips to enjoy the local beaches with our small dog.
Looked after us as a true host and made us feel like friends. Will definitely go back soon!
Lovely stay
Scarlett’s apartment was perfect for a quiet, relaxing holiday.
The views were beautiful and the apartment had everything you could need – the kitchen being brilliantly equipped for cooking throughout our stay. The pool was bigger and deeper than we expected – a wonderful addition that meant you could cool off when needed. There were lots of books to borrow in the apartment and the air con & fans kept the place lovely and cool during this hot weather!
Marbella was an easy drive away, as well as larger supermarkets too.

The Apartment is quietly located, just outside Monda on a steeper slope with great views and is very easy to reach!
Own car park directly in front of the apartment. The apartment is very clean, lovingly furnished and simply perfectly equipped, there was nothing we missed (8 days stay at the end of February).
The landlords took all the trouble that their guests lacked nothing (and have also asked several times!). Living room, dining area, bedroom, bathroom, very fast WiFi – everything is just good! The kitchen is very well-equipped (plates, pots, pans, knives, spices,… all sorts of glasses) – if you want to cook yourself you will find practically everything you need at home! Also the outdoor area is nicely prepared with its own dining area, sun loungers, parasol, plunge pool (which was too cold for us in February though! :D). Actually, we regretted being there so much and not enjoying the outdoor area.
Location Activities: You can go hiking from Monda (either directly from the village or with a bit more choice in 20-30 minutes by car). By car about 35 mins to Malaga, about 60 mins to Caminito del Rej (very worthwhile!) 80 mins to Ronda, 2 hours to Granada. Everything was beautiful! Yes, not exactly around the corner, but worth staying in this apartment and taking the hassle of driving.
The communication with the landlords was very good and fast, both before and during our stay!

Home away from home
I really enjoyed staying at this apartment in Monda. It is so close to everything, just 15 minutes from marbella, or 30 minutes from Málaga.
We walked to the Town a few times, there’s plenty of bars & restaurants and the Castle is amazing to visit.
We ordered our grocery shop online with the host, that made everything so much easier as we arrived late at night so everything was there and we could make breakfast in the morning without having to rush to the shop.
The apartment was clean and very nicely decorated. The attention to detail is amazing, we have never felt so welcome. The beds are super comfy, the sofa too, the terrace is beautiful with excellent views and I even had a dip in the pool “Wim Hof” style as the water was so cold! But the terrace is sunny and you’re soon warmed up again!
The hosts Scarlett & lee were very welcoming and helped us finding the best hikes in the area. We felt very much at home away from home and can only recommend this holiday home to others.
Location
Monda town is an amazing village. It has the best of both worlds. It’s is just 15 minutes drive down the mountains to Marbella (The drive itself is an absolute joy, down the winding mountain road and it’s spectacular coastal views).
The first exit into Marbella offers the large shopping center “La Cañada” where you can shop ’til you drop in the high-street shops that you will find inside the center. It also has many restaurants, fast food restaurants and a cinema inside the shopping center.
Going further down you end up in the Marbella Old Town and the Marbella beach area. From here you can visit all the tourist attractions Marbella has to offer and eat at one of the many restaurants in the town.
Going further inland the opposite way, approx 10 minutes drive from the apartment, you will find the busy town of Coín where you can find all the major supermarkets (Mercadona, Lidl, Carrefour & Aldi) as well as more restaurants and other shops.
The “La Trocha” shopping center is also in the town of Coín, and here you can find a cinema, spa & gym, supermarkets & clothes stores, fast food restaurants and on Sunday you can visit one of the largest bootsale markets on the Costa del Sol, located in the parking area of the La Trocha shopping center. This market should be added to your “must-see” list, it’s a busy market with lots of great little finds!

The town of Monda
Monda has so much to offer. It is a small town but there are so many things to see and visit, you really need to take some time out to see everything!
A 10 minutes walk from the apartment, you will find the Monda Visitors center – this is a handy place to start as they can advice you on all the activities the town is organising during your stay.
The town has many great historic sights such as the old “laundrette” Fuente Lavadero de la Jaula – a fountain and roofed lavadero (public laundry area), once a focus for social exchange, which dates from the 16th century.
The town has a beautiful church in the town square and you can find many different water fountains dotted all over the place with water from the mountains, so you could drink it!
You can also visit the 18th century altar – and if you are lucky and are visiting us over easter, you can see the easter processions start from there!
The town itself is very popular for local events. In the summer there’s some event going almost every weekend! Don’t forget the Monda Feria which is in August (Usually the last week of August) when the town is partying into the early hours of the morning with live music, bands, food and happy people flocking to the town for the week. (it may be a little noisy at night during this period, so best to sleep with the windows closed!)
You can find 2 local supermarkets in the town itself, there’s a bakery, a butcher, a drug store, pizzaria, and many other restaurants and bars both on the main street as well as in the plaza.
The town is also home to its own olive oil factory, it has a library, health center, church and on Tuesdays there is a market for anything from clothes to fresh fruits!
What’s more… Monda is cheap!
In Marbella, a coffee will set you back at least 3 to 4 euro, in Monda, you can have a coffee for 1€, a beer for 1,50€, in Bar Luna you can eat out for 2 people for less than 15€ and you can get some tapas in town from about a euro each. You simply don’t get those kind of prices in Marbella!
Monda castle
Monda Castle is only a 15 minute walk from the apartment. You do need to climb a pretty steep hill to get there, but imagine the calories you’ll burn so you can eat more of the delicious food they have on offer!
The Castle is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner every day and make sure to check out their events calendar for their live music events! There’s a show on almost every week.
The views from the Castle are amazing, you can see your home from their terrace! And the architecture and history of the place is very interesting. It is worth a visit for sure!
A Hikers Dream
La Sierra de las Nieves
The town of Monda is located in the area of Sierra de las Nieves Natural park (” Snowy Mountains”). Even though it’s not likely it will snow during your stay, when you climb some of the higher mountains in the area, you may find a dusting of snow at the top in winter!
The Sierra de las Nieves Natural park was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1995.
This means that we are, apart from a few rural villages, in a largely uninhabited area that has seen very little human influence.
For this reason this area has a rich variety of indigenous flora (pine, fir, ash, chestnut, wild olive and oak trees as well as juniper) and fauna, including wild boar, mountain goats and muflons.
This makes the area ideal for hikes, long or short, any hike in this area is always amazing, no matter what season!
We have been on many hikes in the area ourselves so we have prepared some of our most favorite trails for you on this website.
We also have some hiking equipment you can rent from us if you need to and there’s lots of tips on seasons and precautions to take before you go on a hike so you will be well prepared!
If you have never hiked before, don’t worry! There’s a few really easy hikes that you can do too! We’re not master hikers, so we like to take it easy too, all the hikes shown on this site can be done by beginners too!
Nature at its best
Be prepared to be amazed by the natural beauty of the Sierra de las Nieves. The flora and fauna includes plants you simply can’t find elsewhere in the world and the views you get from some of the viewpoints during the hikes are absolutely breathtaing.
You don’t need a guide to go on the hikes we recommend, they are easy to follow via a handy app that includes pictures and directions.
The bigger hikes (like hiking up to La Concha – 8 hour hike) those ones should be done with a guide if you have no hiking experience.
The hiking season starts mid September and ends mid May. June, July & August you can still hike, but you will need to hike very early in the morning (e.g. 5AM) or late at night (from 8pm) During the day it will be too hot to hike and that makes it dangerous if you don’t have any experience hiking.
All hiking trails are free to use, and some can be reached by foot from the apartment. Others may need a 10 minute car ride to the starting point of the hike.
If you go a little further afield there are some other hikes you can do such as the “Camino del Rey” near the Málaga lakes and the hike to the top of La Concha (the Marbella Mountain) though this last one can also be reached from the starting point of our hikes (the hike is longer if you start from there).
Furthermore, if you go towards Alhaurin el Grande or Coín, there’s even more hikes to be found. We haven’t even tried them ourselves yet so do let us know when you found a nice one for us to add to our website!
Bring Your Pet!
There’s nothing better than going on a hike with your best buddy!
At Monda Heights we allow you to bring your pet, we even give you a bed for it to sleep in, a water and food bowl and some blankets so they are just as comfortable as you!
You can order dog food in our online shop if you don’t want to bring that yourself.
Your pet will love the wonderful hikes you take them on, it’s an adventure for the both of you! But don’t forget to bring a water bottle for your furry friend – it’s thirsty work all that discovering!
Not a fan of pets? Don’t worry, once guests with pets leave, the apartment is thoroughly disinfected and cleaned to a high standard, you won’t know a pet ever stayed here!
Practical Information
The apartment is located in a cul-de-sac outside of the town. it is a tranquil area with mainly pensioners from all over the world but mostly English, Dutch, Swedish and Spanish. The neighbourhood is very quiet, you don’t often get noise complaints, equally we ask you to keep noise to a minimum during the night (quiet hours from midnight).
Because the apartment is located in a valley, noise really travels here, so we don’t allow playing loud music outside (moderate volume is of course no problem!) Equally, if you are bringing a pet, please make sure not to leave it alone in the apartment if it is likely to bark when you are away.
The area really is super safe, we have never had anything scary happen to us here, but you can never be too careful, this is why we have installed security cameras that are located on the terrace as well as the carport.
The terrace camera automatically switches on at midnight until 9AM, it is off during the day. The carport camera is on all day and records on movement. Recordings are deleted after 24 hours, so if you need the footage from a camera in the unlikely event something happened, please let us know in time so we can download the footage.

Welcome to our home!
We are so excited to have you here with us and we hope you will enjoy your stay in our apartment.
We have lived in the home in Monda for over 4 years and finally bought the property in 2022.
We converted the lower floor to a completely self-contained apartment with private entrance for our family to enjoy when they were visiting, and since January 2023 we decided to rent it out to other travellers as well. Why keep all this beauty to ourselves right!?
Scarlett is from the Netherlands and Lee is from the UK. Lee has 2 sons, one that lives in the UK and another one that lives in the USA so we are often found travelling from the UK to the US to Holland and back to Spain.
If you are visiting while we are here, you probably won’t see us at all as we occupy only the top floor of the home and the apartment is completely separate from this floor. You might see our friendly French Bulldog peeking over the balcony once in a while though!
We work from home and don’t have any children between us, so we’re very quiet and you probably won’t even realise we’re there – but feel free to knock on the front door of the top floor home if you wish to have a chat, have questions or are looking for some company!
Equally, we are happy to communicate via whatsapp if you don’t feel social at all (we hear ya!).
Finally, we have thought things through to make the apartment as guest-friendly as possible, but we’re always open for suggestions, so if can think of any improvements we should do, we would love to hear from you!

The prices on our website are the cheapest you can find online.
You do not pay anything when you book your stay with us longer than 30 days in advance.
This means, you can cancel your booking any time up to 30 days before your stay, completely free of charge.
Once we have charged your stay (30 days prior to your arrival) the booking can no longer be cancelled and no refunds are given.
We allow 1 dog per stay. Extra charges may apply, please check the box “add a pet” on check out to allow us to prepare the apartment for your pet.
The extra charge for pets is necessary as we need to deep clean the apartment after your stay for the other guests.
Keep in mind that the pool at the apartment does not have a fence so you should keep your pet away from the pool.
Pets are not allowed to swim in the pool.
Yes we always recommend you take out travel insurance in case you need to cancel your booking.
If this is the case, we can send you a receipt of booking to use with your insurance company.
Late check-out is only available if we don’t have any other guests booked at the apartment that check in that day. Please email us direct to ask.
We don’t allow children under the age of 14 years.
We do make exceptions if the child is able to swim and the parents sign a waiver in case anything happens to the child while at the apartment.
The pool does not have fencing and the patio has large gaps in the fencing and a steep drop, therefore, the apartment is not suitable for children.
You can park your car in the carport at the entrance of the property. You can also park on the street in front of the property if that is necessary.
There is a bus stop in town. From there it is a 15 minute walk to the apartment. So you could take the bus to the property, but then you would need to walk everywhere else during your stay. It is possible, but it is not easy.
We recommend you hire a car.
If you have Covid, you should not travel. We do not refund you if you have covid and need to cancel last minute. This is why you should take out travel insurance.
If you get COVID while you stay here, it is up to you if you travel back home or not.
If the apartment is available you can request to stay longer at the price as quoted on our website. If the apartment is not available, then we will help you find alternative accommodation in the area where possible.
You are welcome to bring friends to the apartment during the day but they can not stay at night.
If we learn that you have had more guests staying the night than stated on your booking, your stay will immediately be terminated and a surcharge of 200€ will be taken from your payment method.
Inside the apartment is it strictly no smoking / vaping. The apartment has sensitive fire alarms which will sound the alarm when any smoke or vape has been detected. This alarm is connected to an app that notifies us if there is smoke in the apartment. You can smoke on the terrace outside and ashtrays are provided.
Do not discard of your cigarettes in the garden as this is a huge fire risk.
If we learn that you smoked inside the apartment, you will be charged accordingly at 200€ per night extra.
